Solomon Partners Hosts McCain Institute Leaders for Sessions on Government and Wall Street

Solomon Partners was pleased to host ten Next Generation Leaders from the McCain Institute for International Leadership for two different sessions on Government and Wall Street. This year the Next Generation Leaders hailed from Estonia, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Hungary, Morocco, Montenegro, Russia, Syria, Ukraine and the United States of America and were hosted by Arizona State University and its Senior Director of Leadership Programs, Ambassador Michael C. Polt, and Lieutenant General Benjamin C. Freakley, Director of its Practice of Leadership.

On January 28, Senior Advisor Diane Coffey and her son, Chris Coffey, facilitated a session on government leadership and decision making. Both Diane and Chris have extensive government experience. Diane served as the Chief of Staff in City Hall to New York Mayor Edward I. Koch and simultaneously served as the Acting Commissioner of Cultural Affairs. She had previously been Mr. Koch’s Administrative Assistant in Washington with responsibility for the operations of his Capitol Hill office during his tenure as a Member of Congress. Chris leads the New York practice for Tusk Ventures and for Tusk Strategies, where he works with clients such as The Patrolman’s Benevolent Association (PBA) and New Yorkers for Clean and Livable and Affordable Streets (NYCLASS). Prior to joining Tusk, Chris worked for Mayor Michael Bloomberg for 10 years at City Hall, on Mike’s three electoral campaigns, and at Bloomberg L.P.

On January 31, PJ Solomon Founder and Chairman Peter J. Solomon hosted the Leaders for a second session focusing on Wall Street. Prior to founding Solomon Partners in 1989, Mr. Solomon was Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers where he was Chairman of its Merchant Banking Division and Co-Chairman of the Investment Banking Division. From 1978 to 1980, Mr. Solomon was Deputy Mayor of Economic Policy and Development in New York City under Mayor Edward I. Koch. He was also Chairman of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and served as Counselor to the United States Treasury in the Carter Administration in 1980.

Since 2013, the Next Generation Leaders program has trained 52 leaders from around the world in values, ethics and character-driven leadership.
