C2ES Welcomes Jim McGinnis to Board of Directors
The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) is pleased to welcome Brenda Mallory of Resources Legacy Fund and Jim McGinnis of Solomon Partners to the C2ES Board of Directors.
Brenda Mallory is executive director and senior counsel of the Resources Legacy Fund’s Conservation Litigation Project (CLP), a project created to protect the environmental and conservation values on public lands. Working largely through academics, CLP coordinates litigation support and communication about emerging issues.
“I am thrilled to join C2ES’s Board as the organization builds on two decades of providing strategic and innovative leadership around tackling climate change,” said Mallory. “I look forward to supporting its efforts at this critical juncture.”
Ms. Mallory has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental, energy, and natural resources arena. She served as general counsel for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) during the Obama Administration. Prior to joining CEQ, Ms. Mallory held the positions of acting general counsel and the principal deputy general counsel at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Ms. Mallory chaired the Natural Resources Practice Group at the environmental law firm Beveridge and Diamond. She has held leadership roles in national and local bar associations. She is a fellow in the American College of Environmental Lawyers, a member of the Environmental Defense Fund’s Litigation Action Committee, and is on the Environmental Law Institute’s Board of Directors.
Rejoining the Board, is Jim McGinnis who is a managing director at Solomon Partners with client responsibility in the renewable energy sector. Mr. McGinnis served from 2004 to 2013 on the C2ES Board and on that of its predecessor, the Pew Center for Global Climate Change.
“I’m truly honored and exhilarated to rejoin the C2ES Board at one of the most profoundly important junctures in the history of industrialized society,” said McGinnis. “Chairman Ted Roosevelt’s continued stewardship and President Bob Perciasepe’s unrivaled expertise have reinvigorated the Center towards its core mission: relentlessly providing definitive research, framing key issues for debate, and identifying compelling, intellectual catalysts for decisionmakers at home and abroad, enabling these leaders to urgently reach sensible policy outcomes to address our global hydrocarbon habit. There’s no time to waste.”
Prior to joining Solomon Partners, Mr. McGinnis was CEO of Mainstream Renewable Capital, the financing and investments arm of Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd., a wind and solar company with more than 8,000 MW’s in development. Before joining AIG-FP, Mr. McGinnis was an investment banker for 18 years, serving as a managing director in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley and an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co’s energy and power group. He has also served on the corporate boards of Kinder, Morgan, Inc.; NextDecade, Inc.; CODA Automotive,; Tenaska Marketing Ventures; and Kelson Energy, LLC.
“It’s a great pleasure to be able to welcome Brenda and Jim to the Board,” said C2ES Board of Directors Chair Theodore Roosevelt IV. “Between them, they bring a wealth of experience and valuable perspective on how both policy and business solutions are needed to solve the climate crisis. The focus on bringing together business leaders and policymakers and seeking common ground between them are at the core of the C2ES mission.”
