James P. McGinnis Joins Solomon Partners

As Managing Director to Expand Renewables Coverage

Solomon Partners, a leading investment banking advisory firm, today announced that James P. McGinnis has joined the firm as a Managing Director. Mr. McGinnis will join the Infrastructure, Power and Renewables Advisory Group and will lead its Renewables coverage.

With over 25 years of experience, Mr. McGinnis was most recently the Founder and CEO of Mainstream Renewable Capital Inc., the New York-based financing and investments arm of Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd., a globally recognized wind and solar company based in Dublin, Ireland.

Commenting on the appointment, Marc Cooper, CEO of Solomon Partners, said, “Jim has broad expertise across investment banking, principal investing and most recently as an executive overseeing the innovative financing of renewable development. His addition supports the firm’s growth strategy of adding seasoned industry experts across our sector coverage universe. We are excited to welcome him to our growing Infrastructure, Power and Renewables Advisory Group and look forward to his success at Solomon Partners.”

Mr. McGinnis’ appointment comes at a time of expansion for the firm, who in the last 18 months, added veteran investment bankers Tim Bath to head the firm’s Infrastructure Advisory Group and Jeff Pollard to lead its Power coverage.

“We couldn’t be more pleased that Jim has joined our expanding platform that provides best-in-class advisory services for our clients. Jim is highly complementary to both our current sector coverage at Solomon Partners, as well as to our partners at Natixis, who are leaders in the financing of renewable projects worldwide,” added Mr. Pollard.

Previously, Mr. McGinnis founded and served as Portfolio Manager of the Halcyon Energy, Power and Infrastructure Capital Fund, L.P. and was a Managing Director at Harbinger Capital Partners, where he led a team with responsibility for public and private energy and power investments, as well as its pan-Asian infrastructure investment portfolio.

Prior to Harbinger Capital Partners, Mr. McGinnis headed the energy private equity investment business of AIG Financial Products Corp., where, among other transactions, he initiated the firm’s leading role in the $23 billion leveraged buyout of Kinder Morgan, Inc. and advised on the investment by AIG-FP in Tenaska Marketing Ventures, Inc.

Before joining AIG-FP, Mr. McGinnis was an investment banker for 18 years, including roles as Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he advised energy and power clients on strategic, restructuring and financing transactions totaling well in excess of $80 billion.

“Solomon Partners has demonstrated the ability and intellectual leadership to execute on complex M&A transactions for nearly 30 years,” said Mr. McGinnis. “I am thrilled to be joining the Infrastructure, Power and Renewables Group, where I will leverage decades of experience to serve clients in the renewable energy sector, which is rapidly transforming the energy and power sectors in the U.S. and overseas.”
